Like the M16 VN, the M1A1 Thompson is blast from the past. When the World War II film “Saving Private Ryan” debuted in Japan the movie’s success was immense. Tokyo Marui responded by announcing that they would produce the M1A1 Thompson, which was shown heavily in the movie. The real M1A1 Thompson was extraordinarily reliable and rarely ever failed. The gun was extremely popular with soldiers because of its durability and powerful .45 caliber ammunition. The only problems were the weapon’s weight and cost, but these were overshadowed by the victories that the weapon brought home. The airsoft M1A1 Thompson is solidly built and rivals the Steyr AUG and AK-47 in terms of construction durability. Made mostly out of metal the only plastic parts are the fake-wood grips and stock. While only close inspection will reveal the plastic nature of the furniture, collectors will be thrilled to know that these parts can be replaced with genuine wood furniture!
